yeh cannae take the sky from me

[info]kimberly_tries said "Comment on this post. I will choose seven interests from your profile and you will explain what they mean and why you are interested in them. Post this along with your answers in your own journal so others can play along."

i did this moons and moons ago, but it's come round again, and i'd conjure there's no hurt in a slight return.

she's tricksy, knows me more than just by the bark of my tree, and she picked: sekrit aprikot, violet wands, sitting on the roof, the way halloween smells, getting lost, leaving a trace, amazing grace.

so.
(deep breath)

sekrit aprikot

During the opening chapters of the lilysaga, i overnighted an apricot to that girl, that amazing woman who completely stole me from the world for a few solar breaths. I sent Texas to California, wrapped on a seed.
Importing fruit to California is illegal, so i was as clandestine as I am capable of being.

The significance of the act itself of it is irrelevant to this writing, but at the time, and for those moons after, it became an icon of our tomorrow, such as it was.
We discussed a number of things in that regard, merging some dreams and separate plans, and I even went so far as to get a FTI number as a cornerstone. We crafted bookstore dreams of tea and Saturday morning stories, layered in the smells of tommorowmusts and barefeet on summercarpet.

However, history is written.

i keep the symbol as a horizon marker, beyond ( and in some ways despite) that us, much like a tattoo.
It was part of our confederacy in the face of the margin.

An Apricot is a dark bit of sun, ripesweettartsoft, sheathed in a skin of firmlight and stories, as delicate and as stoic as a fruit can be. An accessible exotic. Sometimes it is my perfect metaphor for my artheart.

Nowadays i book/promote shows and make flyers for my friends/tribe.
This musics is my bookstore (leaving a trace…), for the nonce, and it makes for a good image that i like better than scribbling ‘notwolf’ on something. Sometimes ‘notwolf’ makes me tired. i’ve worn it for 24-odd years, now.

The numbers in the center of the i-ching/dharma mark logo i use are the produce code for 'apricot'. Mine was ginger root, hers was strawberry.

i will always have a yesterday or a tomorrow, even if today slowly shaves bits of me away.

violet wands
sex.
i’m sure you can google the violet wand, but, much like googling chocolate, it’snae gonna do it any justice. It’s a toy, but unlike some other toys of it’s family, the violet wand has no ulterior use, really.
It’s not as defined, or intrusive as, say, a vibrator or the like – it’s a delicate tool of definition. Not as /clumsy or immalleable, it’s power is defined by the hand on it as well as the skin under it.
Electricity is a living thing, especially when it’s taken out of context of everyday life, like lightning.
A violet wand brings a bite, and a lick, and a scratch, and pinch all at once, all in the wake of a feathertouch.
Yes?

sitting on the roof
there's something serene and constant at the same time in being on top of the top of something.
...psychological seemings aside.
When i moved to Virginia at the start of my teentimes, we lived in a large, old house, and i found it was easy to move thru my window and be able to sprawl out on the roof, facing the woods behind the house.
It was just sitting, listening, dreaming awake, like being on some guard-post at the edge of a border. Cool brick behind me, dark cool unlight forest in front, sky overhead, it gave the sanctuary that only a border can.
Later, when a girl found me, she’d meet me sometimes on that roof, sneaking thru backyards to find my ladder, and we’d make out in that open secret spot. The first time a girl took me in her mouth was on a rooftop at night. My back against blanketed shingles, her nails leaving marks on my thighs as i poured into her, i remember looking dead at the moon and losing my mind at this incredible moment of acceptance and release.
Later, until we moved on, it became ritual for me to bury my mouth on her, and as the weather grew cooler, the intensity of that unexposure got better and better…
The next year, without her, i’d sometimes find myself masturbating out there, and the moon didnae care.

the way halloween smells

there’s a smell that ‘can’ doesnae have, that’s more of an idea that crawls into you thru yer nose, and the colours of fall do the same thing thru yer eyes.
Halloween carries an overcelebration of everything that the other holidays we have are not. There’s no mulling spice and evergreen, no fresh flowers, no grills or ovens.
It’s crushed leaves and tired trees, it’s a creneling and glue, thick paper and the inside of your lover’s coats; your friend’s neck at your nose in a hug, prayercandles lit to tease snow, and the smell of driving in soonwinter with the windows down.
Halloween smells like the wrong kind of cookies.

getting lost
exploring is one thing. When yer forced to, tho, it brings new elements. Getting lost, literally, figuratively, or even emotionally, is the only safe and positive kind of virginity. If yer lost, then you’ve moved from know to not-know, which is different than UNknow.
Which, of course leads into…

leaving a trace
i do. And the second that i do not, you’ll know it’s not me. i am never anonymous.

amazing grace
My favourite word is probably ‘grace’.
Everything it invokes, everything it evokes, brings and lays, it speaks to me. i crave it, but it’s my grail.
And in the Christian Mythology, that song is the shiniest.

Grace is Leonard Cohen, and Anais Nin, and Isadora Duncan. Grace is an open chord, and realizing that the heat at your side when you slowly wake up is someone/something that loves you.
Grace is a farewell kiss, and a goodbye kiss. Grace is the first bite of ice cream, and the last moment in the shower. Grace is realizing that it’s OK to be calm.
i do not have it, but i have.

oh, and i was tagged. i almost forgot.

but this is LiveJournal, so, here goes:

1. How has LJ changed your life?
what? really?
are you new here?
i've been in this gorram thing for about NINE YEARS now. it'snae 'changed' my life so much as it's become an appendage.
i've run the gamut here, and in full view, for good or ill. i've moved into every colour, and even made it out of some...

2. Paper or plastic?
neither, i'll carry it. and i rarely buy too much t'carry, so it works out.

3. What is your favorite meal?
breakfast foods are the bestest: eggs, BACON, gingerbread pancakes, muffins, grits, oatmeal, juice... bring!
HOWEVER, i ever since Lady Bruno ordered the 3:10 To Yummy, i've had it on my mind...
and yes, here in Denton Rock City we have a delivery-only resturant that only serves baked potatos, and delivers until 3AM.
Be jealous, it's OK.

4. What is the ONE place you want to go to before you die if you had the money and the time?
Prague. then the Sahara.

5. Are you an introvert or an extrovert?
technically an extrovert, tho i cannae wear that tag with any comfort. i'm loud standin still, but i move quietly.
you might be surprised if yeh met me IRL. Some have been, that's for damn sure.

6. What do you do in your free time?
it's all free-time, really. i am the most unstructured man in the 'verse. However, being a gypsy doesnae have all the shine yeh'd expect.
i'd trade it tho. gimme true love on the other side of the door and i'll make it a home.
please.

7. Do you trust easily?
No. But only because sometimes i feel like i'm runnin outta things to trust.

8. What personal belonging do you have with you everywhere you go?
this key i wear. i've had it off mebbe 6-8 times since i put it on in 1984.

9. Is there anything that has made you unhappy these days?
.

10. What is your best quality?
i like to think i can inspire. otherwise i'm the best bad example around.

11. What do you do for a living?
nothing.
i work in a comic shop, i broker Magic/WOW Cards and comics, i do some arts for ffolks. i have no bills and everything is paid for, so...

12. How do you see yourself?
i try not to.
i am a bastard and a rake at the gates of hell, and you would fucking well do well to remember that.

13. Do you prefer rain or snow?
rain. rain can carry any weather innit, snow is as incredible as a one-sided thing can be, tho.

14. What kind of person do you think the person who tagged you is?
Underrated, full of grace, love and wonder. She'll make an incredible wife to someone someday, i'd conjure.

15. Poor but loved, or rich but hated?
Poor but loved. it's easier to earn hate than love, but i run outta room for it.

16. What's the sweetest thing anyone has ever said to you?
"Good Night"

17. What's better; to give or to receive?
to give.

18. What do you feel about sex without love?
i can't. it may be a flaw, and i'm sorry, but i need something behind touch.
HOWEVEVER, in perspective, i agree that sharing in someone's else's beauty/space, can be wondrous and inspirational. sometimes it just leaves me half-full afterwards, and therein lies the rub.

19. How mad are you that you got tagged?
eh

20. What would you name yourself if you'd been born the opposite gender?
i've named myself too many times already, so this may be moot. However, in the interest of the flow, i'll say 'Anais'

yeh cannae take the sky from me

and now we have percussion, ironically from Alex, ex-of jetscreamer.

Hurm.

and it sounds so natural, like a Mazzy Star vibe, or sometimes Sigur Ros even, especially with Sarah's bells and harmonium...

and if i keep writing songs, the CD will never stop mutating, but
we finished 'Delirium' tonight, and 'Iconoclasm', and re-worked 'Lioness' a bit, made it softer and more urgent ( less angry) somehow. These cats i play with are amazing.

Except Brent slipped and called it 'Epitaph', instead of 'Escadrille'. Hurm.

i'll get on those meme questions, sorry. it's a hard thing, especially fro those who responded. i know 3-4 of them so intimately already, and the others are like those candy coins: i know it's wonderful chocolate under, i dun need to break the shiny to see...

el corazon strikes back
well, courtesy of [info]mtaiilauren, i have been 'tagged'. Hurm.

fair 'nuff.

1.What does the moon taste like?
Honey, copper, honeysuckle, musk, fresh cotton. Mons.
the best place my mouth has ever been, including song.

2.When did you first realize that dreams were possible?
They are, but they're temporary: caveat.
but the answer? Sometime back before i was even a teenager, my girlfriend was Connie Parton. She was my sister's best friend and she'd come over to the house and swim in her striped one-piece.
One day her father died and i learned what 'creamated' meant.
Connie started swimming with me more than my sister soon after that. One day at a field trip to the Ft Worth Zoo, i was in my Father's giant blue station wagon with the wood paneling and the speaker in the back next to the fold-up seat i loved, sitting in the very very back of the boat. It was the end of the day and Connie had crawled to the back to sit next to me. She was softly singing "Berkley Woman" along with my momma's John Denver tape, and she whispered that she was gonna marry me. After that, i started thinking about what love would be like, and i've never stopped - tho it seems that the answer changes daily, and dramatically.
Connie lives with her wife in Dallas now and works for the government.

3.How loudly does God have to whisper before you hear it?
i hear god constantly at every volume. in everything. sometimes it'snae as good as it sounds. i hear her loudest when i'm writing words and songs, and softest in the voices of the children i don't have.

4.What moment were you the most proud of yourself?
On the way to take her to the airport, to go back home to Babylon California, Sarah reached thru the songs and the warm Texas evening, took my pen and wrote 'i love you' in her fey script on my arm.

After a thousand years, i felt complete. i felt like the road was worth it and every scar i'd had and made had finally come together like some stereogram, or a Nazca line and the sky had let me up to see it.
i'm sure that i've done bigger, better, louder, but this sticks in my head like one lit candle in the last cupcake.
Mebbe too much.
starhead makes me proud, but i've learned t'be wary of my ego these days. Very careful.

5.What dish can you make that will have them lining up at your door?
My ice creams are good, but my white pizza is a deal-breaker. if i can cook for someone, i transcend.

hn. do i tag now?

and, except for a handfull of filler, the Album is done. We've pulled alla the songs offa the myspace, cos they're so... umm... primitive compared to the new stuff. - but not in the good way.

...over the course of EIGHT YEARS? hurm.

Who comments the most on this journal? )

1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
The first article title on the page is the name of your band.

2. http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3
The last four words of the very last quote is the title of your album.

3. http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days/
The third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.

4. Use your graphics program of choice to throw them together, and post the result as a comment in this post. Also, pass it along in your own journal because it's more amusing that way.
